The Brit Writers' Awards Unpublished 2010 (BWA) is an exciting project that is inspiring new writers across the UK to craft stories, poems and songs; giving them the chance of winning a £10,000 prize. This initiative is designed to encourage and inspire unpublished writing talent in people of all ages and backgrounds; with the aim of unleashing the hidden literary talent in the UK and raising British achievement. It's going to be big - think writers' versions of The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent!

We're expecting over half a million people from across the UK to be involved in the campaign with over 50,000 submissions in eleven award categories which include poetry, novels, under 16's and songwriting. Please see our website - www.britwriters.co.uk

The Brit Writers' network of businesses, public & community sector organisations is growing very fast; from just our schools engagement project we already have 200,000 pupils involved. With the national submissions deadline on the 26th February 2010 and the glittering awards night on 26th June 2010, the BWA team is keen to have credible partners on board that will help make this project a great success.

The engagement projects that are delivered by the BWA have been specifically designed and developed to us the vehicle of creative writing to promote strong cohesive communities and to encourage broader understanding and acceptance of differing cultures, faiths and lifestyles in today's multicultural society.

We are dedicated to working with schools, colleges and universities, private business concerns and public sector agencies throughout the UK to enhnace overall literacy skills and to encourage and inspire people to share common values through their writing experiences.

The BWA programmes, competition and subsequent prestigious gala awards ceremony will inspire and engage every community in the UK - and be the first ever high-profile stage for unpublished writers of all ages. The gala awards will be a glittering, star studded event featuring key figures from the publishing, media and corporate world. However the real stars at the event will be the school children, local literacy leaders and community members from diverse backgrounds who seized the challenge, picked up a pen and wrote something extraordinary. The evening will celebrate their success and how this project has inspired ordinary people into creative writing.

Our creative writing campaign is attracting new, high profile support every day and recent endorsements have been received by mainstream artists such as Mercury Prize winner, Speech Debelle, media journalists such as Sky News presenter Marverine Cole and Tim Teeman, Arts Editor of the Times; and well known authors like Julia Donaldson, creator of 'The Gruffalo'. Statements of support have also been received from politicians including David Cameron MP, Nick Clegg MP and Alex Salmond MSP.
